Hi Alan  Three photos copied from a display case at the Muckleburgh Museum some years ago. Recall that caption said that they were taken at the AASA Manorbier. You will recognise the Radar No 3 Mk 2.

my father, an american ( deceased ) was on anti aircraft guns through out ww2. i wish he was still here to tell me all those amazing stories again, i'm just now am starting to do a little research and put together some of the stories he told. he was in a half track on d day, manning the gun, when they drove it off the boat, it stalled out in the water, and they had to wait for the army engineers to come out and tow it in with a tractor. he was also in the battle of the bulge, all over belgium, france and germany. i do remember him saying that one of the worst things was that the radar truck had a direct hit by a shell and 6 buddies of hit and where killed instantly. i also remember him say ing that once toward the end of the war a jet ( messerscmitt ) flew by so fast that the guns radar made  the gun spin.

Yes . I have quite a lot of material on AA gunlaying radars from the period 1940 -1954. Contact me in March when I will be home and have access to my files. My interest is only with radars that were  deployed with army formations.  Brian
